AnTara are a unique traditional music duo. AnTara literally means 'the space between' in Sanskrit and features two iconic musicians from very different traditions. Tommy Hayes is a legend in traditional music as a percussionist and founding member of Stocktons Wing. While Matthew Noone has carved out a reputation as Ireland's foremost exponent of the North Indian lute called sarode. Most recently, Matthew has become well known for his interpretations of Irish traditional music on the sarode and has toured India with Martin Hayes and appeared at the prestigious 'Masters of Tradition Festival' in Bantry.
The pair met as neighbours in East Clare and quickly developed a musical affinity. They have played at major festivals across the country and also appeared on Fleadh TV and RTE's Fair City. They released their debut album in 2015 to critical acclaim and have received radio play internationally. They are currently working on the follow up album with composer and Gradam Ceol winner Jack Talty from Ensemble Eriu.
